For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:20 (KJV)
Bottom line: You are of great value in the eyes of the Lord.
Teaching
Sometimes we look down on ourselves and others look down on us as well because we act like we are of little or no importance to this world. We even pray prayers with words that downgrade our self-esteem. Prayers such as, “Oh God, I am a poor sinner…” make us feel humble and put us in a corner of life where the lowly are.
God however does not see us this way. He sees us as the opposite of what we describe ourselves. The Bible says we were bought from our former slave master (sin) with a price.
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:20
This price is the life of Jesus. He was given in exchange for our liberation. In trade, the value of an item is known by the price at which it was bought or exchanged. In other words, in the eyes of God, our lives are as valuable as the life of Jesus. As valuable and important as Jesus is to God, is as we are to God as well. That is why the life of animals was not enough to purchase our freedom,
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Hebrews 10:4
only the life of the son of God, the lamb of God without spots or wrinkles was.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
John 1:29
Jesus paid for your freedom; therefore, you are no longer a slave of sin or any man.
23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
1 Corinthians 7:23
Not only have you been redeemed, but he has also made you royal blood. By his Spirit who lives in you, you have become one with him, a joint heir with Christ and a partaker of the Godkind.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1 Peter 2:9
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1:4
Therefore, begin to see yourself as the king you are. Chest out, walk with boldness because the earth is yours. All that he has belongs to you. You are an heir to his throne. You are not a servant but a Lord. Think highly of yourself and do not let anyone talk you down, because you are precious in God’s sight.

Reflection
- How do you see yourself as a person?
- Are you conscious of your value to God as a person?
- Do you present yourself out there as someone of high standing or always as someone in need of help?
- What can you do to change any wrong image you have built for yourself?
Prayer
Thank you, dear Lord, for making me a partaker of your divine nature. I declare today that I am a king and a priest in Christ Jesus. I sit and rule on high places with Christ Jesus. Hallelujah.
