Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Daniel 6:3 (KJV)
Bottom line: You have an excellent spirit.
Teaching
Excellence is an essential virtue that is required to excel in life. Students are required to have excellent grades if they must be admitted to highly competitive universities, and workers are required to do their assigned tasks with excellence if they must keep their positions in a company, or better still, be promoted to higher ranks.
Men of excellence are always sought and appointed to higher offices of rulership. This was the case with Daniel, an Israelite who lived as a captive in Babylon.
Daniel was captured from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and he lived to serve the king in his days. Daniel however got promoted by the king because the king realized that Daniel had an excellent Spirit.
Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Daniel 6:3 (KJV)
Some other governors sought an occasion to accuse Daniel falsely to tarnish his image and stop his promotion. But they found nothing they could use against Daniel because he was upright in all his dealings and excellent in all his work.
Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
Daniel 6:4 (KJV)
This is the same Spirit that resides in every child of God. When you are born again, the Spirit of God comes into your heart and lives within you. The Spirit of God is an excellent Spirit. When you allow yourself to be influenced by Him, you will find excellence in everything you do. You will live an upright life and you will be just with all men. You will be wise in all your affairs; you will be a solution provider. You will have answers to hard questions, and you will bring calmness amid storms.
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,
Isaiah 11:2 (KJV)
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
This is the Spirit who worked in Daniel and He is in you. The Bible says:
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Romans 8:14 (KJV)
How can you be led by the Spirit of God such that you manifest excellence daily? Well, that’s simple. Daniel showed us how he developed an excellent Spirit.
Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
Daniel 6:10 (KJV)
The Bible says that Daniel developed the habit of praying three times daily. This was his custom, and this was what developed an excellent Spirit in him.
The way to be led by the Spirit of Excellence (Spirit of God) is to fellowship with the Spirit regularly through prayer, prayer in the Spirit(tongues) being preferred. When you develop such a life of prayer, you’ll discover that the character of the Spirit of God will begin to be expressed through you in every way, just like in Daniel. This is what will bring promotion and greater open doors in your life. Hallelujah.
