That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
Ephesians 1:17 (KJV)
Bottom line: Increase in the revelation of God in you, because the quality of your Christian life depends on the revelation of God in your Spirit.
Teaching
The God we serve is a God with multiple facets. Just like we see new facets of the sky and clouds daily, God also has different facets. Therefore, in our journey with the Lord, while we are here on earth, we tend to discover him in a new light daily.
When we look into the scriptures, especially in the Old Testament section of the Bible, we discover that God was given many different names, some of which include:
El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty), El Elyon (The Most High God), Adonai (Lord, Master), Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner), Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd), Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals), Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There), Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness), Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide), Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace), Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts) and more.
These men gave God these various names according to the revelation that they had about him at the time.
God made a remarkable statement to Moses when He was about to deliver the children of Israel from the bondage of the Egyptians:
2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
Exodus 6:2-3 (KJV)
God was simply telling Moses that, there are some facets of me that your ancestors did not know, which I am about to reveal to you today.
From the scriptures above, you therefore will agree with me that, how far you can go with God and how much of His power and grace you can manifest strongly depends on how much revelation you have of Him. The shallower your revelation is, the less of His glory and power you will experience. But the deeper you get with him, the greater is his grace and power over your life.
Therefore, the quality of your Christian life depends on the revelation of God you have in your Spirit.
Peter the Apostle, knowing this, wrote to the church:
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2 Peter 1:2 (KJV)
Paul the Apostle also prayed for the church saying:
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
Ephesians 1:16-18 (KJV)
Therefore, increase in grace and power today through the revelation of God in your spirit as you get to know God better and deeper in Jesus’ name. Amen.
