Ups and downs of life

The Christian life curve

But the path of the just is as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)

Bottom line: Your life is set to go forward and upward.

Teaching

Many Christians will agree with the famous saying “Life is full of ups and downs”. This appears true to them because they experience just that. But today, I want to share with you the mind of God as to what he desires for his children.

Our opening verse says:

18 But the path of the just is as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Proverbs 4:18 (KJV)

God’s perfect plan is to see us advancing continuously without any retreat. Ups and downs are not part of God’s perfect desire for us. Do not get me wrong, there are moments of trials and temptations in a Christian’s life. But these things are meant for our upliftment, not for our downfall. If you find yourself falling, don’t say it is the will of God, because it is not.

It is rather the will of the devil that you fall and lose everything you ever worked for. He was the first being who fell from heaven, so, he wants the whole world to fall with him. But God wants you to be on a steady rise daily.

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10 (KJV)

Therefore, reject failure, because God doesn’t want you to fail. He doesn’t want you to rise and fall daily.

The Bible says:

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

Your life has been ordained to move from one level of glory to a higher one. No matter what happens to you, you are set to move on top. Even if men throw stones at you, pick up those stones and use them as your building material. The more they persecute you, the more you rise. There is an African idiom that says, “A fruitless tree does not attract stones”.

Therefore, let nothing stop you from rising. It is the natural curve your life must take. Keep shining, until you attain the perfect day. Hallelujah.
