But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light
1 Peter 2:9
Bottom line: It is not humility to lower yourself below what God calls you.
Teaching
Several Christians have the habit of calling themselves names that depict someone who is lowly in life and needs help. Some of them even write songs that describe them as poor sinners who need the divine help or intervention of God. They do this because it makes them feel humble before the Lord. But I got news for you today. God hates that! Whenever you call yourself by a name that the Lord has not called you, you offend God. Our verse of the day says:
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light
1 Peter 2:9
In the eyes of God, we are kings and priests. In His eyes, we are holy, chosen by Him, and sanctified by the blood of Christ for his purpose. Therefore, it is not a righteous thing to call yourself a beggar or a poor sinner or any other name you are used to calling yourself to feel sympathy from God or empathy from others. God wants you to call yourself what He calls you.
You are a king and you have royal blood running through your veins. Therefore, stop seeing yourself like an ordinary man and stop talking like a peasant because you are not. Speak the language of kings. Kings don’t talk lack because they know the whole kingdom belongs to them. Stop talking lack. Kings mind the kind of words they speak because they know their words are decrees. Stop talking anyhow. Kings don’t have a double tongue. Their yes is yes and their no is no. Let your yes be yes and your no be no.
Function today from the place God has called you to be. Don’t lower yourselves to live an ordinary life. Live the life that Jesus purchased for you on the cross with his blood. Hallelujah!

Reflection
- How do you see yourself today? As someone who needs God’s deliverance or as someone who has been delivered by God?
- Have you realized that you are someone of high value to God?
- If yes, have you been acting and talking that way?
Prayer
Thank you, Father, for making me a king and a priest in your kingdom. I declare that whatever belongs to you belongs to me. I have everything you have because I am a joint heir with Christ Jesus. I live in abundance and my supply never runs dry. Amen.
