David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
1 Samuel 17:37
Bottom line: God will not abandon you.
Teaching
Often, we find ourselves facing various challenges. Day in, day out, we encounter people or situations that resist our advancement in life. And in some moments, our emotions may cause us to believe that we won’t be able to get out of a particular challenge.
But Jesus makes us understand that, all what we are facing today, and will ever face on earth, He faced it and came out victorious.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin
Hebrews 4:15
Paul puts it this way.
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
2 Corinthians 4:8
Whatever you are facing as a Christian now, I want to assure you that it came to pass, it didn’t come to stay. If Jesus who overcame the world lives in you, you also will overcome the world by his spirit which is in you, because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4
Our proof text teaches us something very important that we must do each time we are faced with a challenge that apparently seems un-surmountable.
37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
1 Samuel 17:37
David when he was faced with Goliath drew strength by remembering the past victories that the Lord gave him when he faced similar situations. He didn’t forget.
When you remember the deliverance of the Lord in your past situations, it will generate faith for the present and future challenges. All you need to do is remember.
If you forget God and what He did in the past to save you, you will be tempted to go for alternative solutions that will lead to your downfall.
7 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
Judges 3:7
Trust in the power of God to deliver and save you today. He will do it again as He did it before. The fact that you may not be seeing immediate answers to your present request, at the time and the way you want to receive them is not enough to qualify God as unfaithful.
How many times has God shown up for you? Yet, this once you want to give up on Him? Relax, the Lord did not take you this far to leave you halfway. He did it before, He will do it again. Just have faith in Him.

Prayer
I thank you holy spirit for blessing me this much. I thank you because you blessed me even when I didn’t ask. I am persuaded that you love me just as a father loves his child. I therefore declare that I trust in you, and I depend on you always. I shall not be afraid anymore because you are with me. Amen.
