Keep moving

Keep moving

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Philippians 3:13 (KJV)

Bottom line: Don’t let anyone or anything stop your advancement.

Teaching

A great deal of people have had their movement slowed down or stopped by the devil, or fear, or by others. Some lose confidence in themselves because they may have failed at some point. Others get discouraged because they allow others to down-talk their dreams and aspirations. Their dream seems so unthinkable or unrealistic to everyone else.

Well, I came to remind you that you have the assignment to fulfill your dream, no matter the circumstance. It does not matter what seems to stand before you as a hindrance, you have been well-equipped to overcome that and advance. This is the signature of greatness. Great men forge ahead no matter the weather.

Look at the Bible, you’ll discover that every great dream or vision must be subject to resistance or challenge.

Taking Joseph as an example, he dreamed that he would one day rule over his brethren and his parents. He was persecuted by his brothers just because of that dream. His Dad even rebuked him. And after he dreamed, persecution came. He was sold by his own brothers as a slave and he ended up as a slave at Potiphar’s (governor in Egypt). From Potiphar’s house, he was sent to Prison for a crime he did not commit. But from the prison, he was raised to be the Prime minister of Egypt and eventually, his brothers bowed to him.

5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. 6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:

7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

Genesis 37:5-8 (KJV)

6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

Genesis 42:6 (KJV)

Joseph did not give up on his dream. Don’t give up on yours. If your dream seems unthinkable to others, it doesn’t mean it is not real or it will not come to pass. Don’t let them stop you from moving ahead. A great dreamer once said:

If you can’t fly then run,
If you can’t run then walk,
If you can’t walk then crawl,
But whatever you do,
you must keep moving forward.

Martin Luther King Jr.

Paul the apostle of Jesus Christ who completed the assignment that the Lord had given him said:

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Philippians 3:13 (KJV)

You have to keep moving forward, no matter what comes your way, because, the vision may tarry, but it shall surely come to pass.

Reflection

  • Are there any dreams or projects you have abandoned?
  • How much do you believe in your dreams?
  • How much do you invest daily in your dreams?

Prayer

Thank you, Lord, because you make everything beautiful in its time. Thank you for the dream you have put in my heart. I declare that I’m advancing daily and after every storm has passed, I will still be standing, in pursuit of my dream in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Keep moving
