Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)
Bottom line: Embrace the routes to prosperity that your forefathers found.
Teaching
Many people out there have great dreams and aspirations that require time, sacrifice, finances, and human resources to cause the vision to become a reality. Sometimes, the mission of turning a dream into reality seems impossible, but in reality, a great deal of the work has already been done. Yes, the dream you are following now is not a new one. Whatever the dream is, someone, somewhere, at some point in time has already done something similar. Whether the dream is becoming a mega-church pastor, to be the CEO of a great company, or the president of a nation, someone else has pursued such a dream before you.
The Bible says:
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 (KJV)
Therefore, instead of trying to start digging the foundations afresh, it will be wiser to build upon the works of those who were there before you.
Our opening verse says:
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)
God expects us to follow the paths created by the ones who came before us. He expects us to build on the good works of our forefathers. We indeed must be innovative, but this doesn’t mean that we must not regard the work that was done by those who came in before us. Instead of trying to build a new work afresh, we should seek to improve on what has already been done. He adds that, by doing so, we shall find rest for our souls.
For example, anyone who seeks to start a new construction company will find it easier to follow the path which other well-established construction companies.
Considering that King Solomon built the Israelite temple: he did not ascend the mountain for four days like Moses, he did to receive the measurements for the temple’s walls and structure. His father Moses had given him a template he could start with.
Therefore, relax, your dream is not impossible to realize. Search for men and women that have accomplished what you desire to accomplish. If they are still alive, contact them if possible, for mentorship, and everything will move on from there.

Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for giving me the wisdom and strength to push through with all the projects I have engaged in. Thank you to those whom you have placed on my path as mentors. I pray that you teach me how to follow their counsel diligently in the name of Jesus. Amen.
