But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Romans 8:11 (KJV)
Bottom line: You have an internal power supply.
Teaching
The journey of life is a long journey full of trials and temptations. Daily, we face circumstances that challenge our faith and attempt to overthrow us from our positions as sons of God. Sometimes, we may get weary on the way. Sometimes, we may get tired, and our strength may grow thin. In such circumstances, the Bible teaches us what to do:
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Romans 8:11 (KJV)
Our opening verse makes us understand that the Spirit of the Lord within us has the ability to “quicken” our mortal flesh. By quicken here, it means to bring to life whatever was dead. Yes, we have a self-regenerating system within us. It means that, if your body is affected in any way by disease, the Spirit of God in you can bring that part back to life just as he brought Jesus back to life on the third day after he exited the earth. Isn’t that wonderful?
Furthermore, the Spirit of God resides inside you and has the power to influence not just your physical body but also your mind, will, and spirit.
The Bible says:
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit,
Jude 20 (Amp)
We can self-rejuvenate our bodies, soul, and spirit daily. And we do that by praying in the Spirit (in tongues). When we pray in the Spirit, our spirit prays, though our understanding is unfruitful.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
1 Corinthians 14:14
The power of God locked in our spirit is released when we pray in tongues. This power affects all parts of our being. Suddenly we are inspired again, suddenly, we find direction. We are all powered up and ready to cover extra miles. This was the secret that made Paul the Apostle successful in his service to God.
Paul was tested by God and persecuted by man in various ways. On one occasion, he was beaten up and left for death, yet he survived.
19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
Acts 14:19-20 (KJV)
On other occasions, he was thrown into prison. But he survived all of that and accomplished his assignment with success. He made the following confession:
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
1 Corinthians 14:18 (KJV)
Paul was a prayerful Christian, but more so, he prayed in tongues more than he prayed in his natural language. This energized him to go through everything he went through and come out with victory.
Indeed, the Christian journey is not a bed of roses, but we are well equipped for victory. As you practice praying in tongues regularly, your spirit, mind, and body will be energized for greater victories. Hallelujah!

Reflection
- Do you pray in tongues as a Christian?
- If not, you can ask the Lord right now, and he will fill you and give you the ability to pray in tongues.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for giving me the ability to pray in the Spirit. I declare that as I pray in the Spirit daily, my spirit is energized, and my mind is filled with divine thoughts and inspiration from above in Jesus’ name. Amen.
