In our day to day we get to interact with a number of people in person or via text, phone calls, emails social media etc. Every person you interact with has an image of you in their mind which may or may not be in line who you really are.
People may tell you things like “OMG you are the clumsiest person I ever met” or “ugh you’re so not cool” or “wow you really are not smart” or “mehn, you are such a failure” and as you hear more and more comments like that about you it gradually starts to soak in until it becomes your reality; you begin to accept their words and soon enough you start telling yourself and even others those things; you find yourself saying things like “I am so clumsy I can’t possibly walk a straight path without stumbling” or “yeah, I spilled my drink…again. That’s just/so me” or “I am just not cool, I could never be cool or hang out with the cool kids”. First of all, pause, if I were your friend I may find it pretty offensive because you practically insinuated that I am “not that cool”.
Well, today we are going to talk about to tell you it does not have to be that way, you are master of your own choices; you get to choose who you want to be and who you become.
Every time you find yourself faced with such situations, I want you to ask yourself these questions:
“is this who I really am?” – yes? No?
“is this who I want to be?” – yes? No?
And if it is not in line with the real you, start to make some changes; look at yourself in the mirror and say positive things about yourself.
Affirmations
- “I am so amazing”
- “I am graceful”
- “I am a success”, “I am smart”
- “I am beautiful/handsome”
- “people love me and they love being around me”
- “I am so cool”…
Eventually you will start to experience a different reality, these things will become your truth, they will be manifested outwardly… other people will also start to see it too and you will notice they also start to say these things about you.
Make it habit to say positive things about yourself on a daily basis. You may or may not see the difference immediately but don’t stop; keep working at it and I promise you, you will see the results.
